Adding wireless to existing router/switch network

I currently have my network up and running using standard wired cat5e into a switch, hooked into the router. all is great. I want to add another computer to the main room tv, but do not want to crawl in the attics again to add another port in the living room. How do I add a wireless connection into a wired network?

Going wireless is entirely reasonable, I have it and it's a wonderful thing.

If you want a DHCP server or want everything in one unit look into a wireless router. You can find some good deals in the hot deals forums if you look long enough. However if you want a stand alone wireless AP (which connects to your wired router with a cable) look into a wireless access point. And while you are at it how about some wireless PCI adapters?

Have fun!

The easiest way would be to plug a WAP into your current wired network. The cheapest way would be to get wifi router (such as the Di-614+ for $14.86) off the hot deals forum. You could then either replace your current router with it or change the settings to make it compatable with your current network.

beautiful, this is exactly what I am looking for! Thaks guys!

I do have a question, I will have it on a switch already wired in. With this in mind, how does the router assign to wireles devices that get plugged into it? Just always connected when wireless and in range or just I will figure it out when I get the WAP?
