Adding windows 2003 domain - keeps saying it already exists

I'm trying to setup a domain forest environment to replicate the one we have at our college test lab, so I can do homework here.

When I try to create the domain it says it already exists. Does not matter what name I put. At first it worked fine for the forest root domain and I was just having problems with the child domain saying it already existed on the root domain, so I changed the SIDs of the PCs and still nothing. The parent domain is suppost to be called dovercorp.net and the child is domain01 which will come up to domain01.dovercorp.net.

Does anyone know why it keeps telling me it already exists? This is the easy part but it has turned into a mystery.

Like as in not specifying one? Or flushing the gateway itself? (linksys router) I could try that next time.

I managed to get it working though, I just went with the default netbios name it gave me when it said there was a conflict and to my suprise it worked. Unless the machine itself was conflicting with itself? Maybe the netbios name of the machine has to be different then what I want to call the domain, but that seems kind of strange. But then again I tried various other names and got the same error.
