Adding users to the Admin group in XP

I have 2 pc's on a workgroup and I want the user accounts on both pc's to have admin rights on the workgroup. I have tried going into control panel>computer management>local users and groups>groups>administrators, but it only allows me to add local names. How do I set this?

Thanks!

I dont think that is possible.

You mentioned that you are only in a "workgroup". In a workgroup, each system's user acounts and account policy are administered locally... in a "client/server" setup, with a domain implemented, you could then allow users from any of the systems, have "administrator" rights ..

If I can't add remote users to the Admin group then how can I access user profiles on another computer? I have unchecked the "Make this folder private" button on all profiles on each local machine, but when I try to view the profiles I get an access is denied message.

Create identical usenrame/password accounts on both machines. Set them both to admin. Disable simple file shairng (if XP pro) and thats it.

open a folder
tools
folder options
view
last check box is simple file sharing (make sure it is unchecked)

Yep. Without a domain controller, XP requires all users accounts to exist on each machine. I hope you don't have to dive into NTFS permissions to see why this is so 🙂

U need to set up a comp with either winnt 4.0 server, win2k server or advanced server or the new .net server. A domain is run by A server OS.
All workstation OS authenticate to that domain.
