Adding to buddies list

Is there a way of adding a handle longer than 20 chars to the buddies list? The textbox won't allow you to type anymore than 20. Thanks for any help!
 
So, I'm guessing those usernames with more than 20 chars are on nobody's buddy list? Ah well, there was only a couple anyhow.
