Adding SSD to laptop -- best choice?

I'm looking at the Lenovo X200 and they're charging $310 to upgrade to a 64GB ssd over the standard 160GB drive. Since I don't even know what drive they'd be putting in, I'm interested in understanding my alternatives if I were to buy and install a drive myself.

What are some of the better SSDs? I heard something about a bad controller being used on a lot of drives and would like to avoid that.

Looking for suggestions,
Thanks

Intel X25M or possibly the new OCZ Vertex but they need some reviews of the final shipping firmware first. All other lower priced SSD's have the potential to stutter, including the Apex. It is a design flaw, Jmicron contoller(s) and no cache.
