Adding second NIC cost LAN connection

Hi Y'all,
I have recently setup a new PC with the BX133 Raid as my backbone. My problem is that it seems to be lacking in available IRQs. From what I read, of the 5 PCI slots, Slot one shares IRQ with AGP and Slot3 shares IRQ with onboard Ultra100 and slot 2 shares with slot 5. I would like to run two NICs, and AGP card and SBLive on this system. Here's wht I did:
AGP recieves no IRQ (set in bios)
Slot 1 has NIC with IRQ10 and no conflicts
Slot 2 has NIC with IRQ 5 and no conflicts
Slot 4 has SBLive IRQ 9 and no conflicts
Onboard Raid has IRQ11 and no conflicts
Here's my problem:
With only one NIC installed in Slot3 evrything works fine. I can access the internet through my router/switch and I can also share files and printers.
Once I install the second NIC in slot 1, I can no longer share files with any other computer. I can access the internet, but no file sharing. The only thing I can find that possibly could cause problems, considering the memory and IRQ are free, is that the NIC in slot 1, is that this NIC is the only one listed in the Memory in the device manager. It is listed under the PCI Bus on the same subnet as the AGP card. No other PCI cards show up here at all.
My setup:
Win2K Pro SP2(yes beta)
NIC 1 192.168.0.x subnet 255.255.255.x DNS and gateway set for router
NIC 2 192.168.0.y subnet 255.255.255.x no DNS or Gateway set
NIC 1 runs toe the switch/router
NIC 2 runs to a hub with on other laptop attached
Any suggestions?
As Always

Are you using two similar brand nics or different brands/model? AKA we can easily tell the two apart. Could it be you changed the properties of the first nic thinking it was the second?

Thanks,
I went over my connections and nothing seems to have changed. I still have all users and password set correctly, the IP address is correct, file and print sharing (along with a shared drive) are correct. Like I said, this one is odd to me. I have run multiple sygate and NAT systems with two NICs, but I have never tried to setup two separate connections like this. I believe it has something to do with the IRQ sharing of slot 1 and AGP, but the AGP has no IRQ ( I disabled in bios). Anyway, Thanks for the idea and please keep them coming.

You have two NICs on the same subnet and are causing havoc with microsoft browsing and MS networking.

These two nics should be on separate subnets (but then you would be able to talk out of one).

What do you need the second NIC for?

good catch spidey. I completely over looked the list of ip addresses and subnets.

Thanks y'all,
I had this posted under another title. Oh NO! Say it aint so! Yes, I double posted, my bad. It's funny how I could overlook such a simple problem. Anyone ever leave their sunglasses on their head and search for them all over the house, only to have someone finally point out their stupidity all along. That's how I feel right now. I'll try this setting when I get home. Thanks to everyone for bearing with me.

OT: Ever look for your glasses all over the house only to realize you can see well enough to look for your glasses which means your glasses are on your face?

Hi Y'all,
Alright, I have the PC reset so:
NIC1 192.168.0.x 255.255.255.0 DNS and gateway set
NIC2 192.168.1.x 255.255.255.0 no DNS or Gateway set
I think I found the problem, but I can't figure out how to fix it. When I ping any PC connected to my router(NIC1), it works! address and name. However I still can't open anything in Network Neighborhhod ot Windows Explorer. Here's what I THINK is wrong:
When I ping my PC address(either) everything is OK. However, when I ping my PC name, it says" Pinging <PC>(192.168.1.x)". It appears that the network has assigned my PC name to my NIC2. Could this be the problem? Someone give me some insight on this please.

Well, I think it is fixed. Somehow it looks like my Workgroup designation was changed back to "Workgroup" with the installation of my second NIC. A quick fix and a reboot, and now I'm back in business. Thanks you all.
