Adding regular Intel proc instead of HP branded?

Curious if I can add a regular matching xeon processor to a new xw8000 HP workstation instead of the HP branded one. Someone mentioned it may mount differently, but other than that, is there a way to do this? The HP one is $1400 while the regular Intel boxed unit is about $400.

This would definitely be worth it if it were possible. Anyone have any ideas?
