I'm thinking of getting Vista Ultimate x64. I currently have DDR2 2x1GB XMS2-6400C4 Corsair 4-4-4-12. I would like to have more memory so I browsed the site of the local shop and found that they are selling DDR2 2GB 6400C4 Corsair 4-4-4-12. Would this stick work fine with my current RAM? It looks like it would but I want to be sure =)

i dont see why it wouldnt. are you going to be getting 2 sticks for a total of 6gb? also, some CPUs dont OC as well with 4 sticks of ram as they do with 2, but running an e8400 at 3.4GHz probably shouldnt be a problem

I'm only going to get 1 stick for the time being. 4 Gigs should be more than enough for me until 2009

I'm going to have three sticks: My current ram + the new stick I'm considering of buying, in total that would be 4GB. I'll see how well Vista fares with 2 GB. If it maxes out, I'm definitely going to get the 2 extra GB

I would not suggest this mixture of memory. You are mixing different densities and also asking your board to try to run the memory in Flex Mode. Google it if you need more info.

In theory it "should" work but it is not the best solution in this case. The best ideas are:

1. Buy a 2 x 2GB kit

2. Buy a kit that EXACTLY matches your current kit and install 4 modules, not 3.
