Adding Radeon 4850 to a system on Antec Neopower 380

I've purchased a second hand system from arstechnica from a trust-worthy seller (who's probably around here as well), it should arrive in a week or so; coming with the following components:

ASUS M4A785-M
Phenom II X4 945 (125W)
1X1GB + 1X2GB DDR2
500GB Seagate
DVD-RW
ATI Theatre tuner

The PSU in that system is currently.

I have a Radeon 4850 that I would like to put into the system to speed up some applications.

Knowing the PSU contained, I purchased the system; by experience, I think that an Antec is usually not going to be over-rated. And the resulting system would likely have a peak draw between 250W and 275W range. So it's likely that the PSU that comes with the system would suffice for what I need it to do.

I just want to solicit some opinions from the PSU afficienados around here: How much chance is there that this PSU would not be sufficient for the configuration, and would be so flaky that I might be forced to replace it with a more robust unit in the near future.

I'll need to buy a few things from newegg (for a totally different system) in the next couple of days. I was wondering, by the opinion in this forum, whether I should just go ahead and purchase a spare PSU with higher capacity, for the just in case scenario. (even if it is unused right now, it won't go to waste, as it will be used eventually.) And if that is the case, can anyone recommend a solid PSU that has a good bang for the buck.

Thanks in advance

I can say with confidence that the 380 watt will be plenty...knowing Antecs quality I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if that unit could pump out 450 watts completely stable. You wont have any problems.

Now if you want to purchase another spare/backup power supply basically anything from Antec, Corsair...any of the major brands will be a good buy...especially if you arent using some hex-core triple SLI/Xfire setup.

Not a good idea to buy a backup though if it will be unused for quite awhile...caps will go to crap just sitting around unused.

The 380 should be fine though. I have either the 380 or 430 powering an E8400 and 4870 fwiw.

Like the others said. If you are still worried, drop it in and fire up Furmark. If it doesn't crash, you are good to go.

Thanks guys;

I guess I will go forward with more confidence with finishing this system. Hopefully, everything will work out as planned, and I will hold off on purchasing any additional PSU as suggested.
