Adding/Editing text to a .bmp in Photoshop

I edited desktop bitmaps to include the name of the server, using Photoshop.

Now I want to change it, but I can't remember how. It won't let me select the text and Find and Replace doesn't find it. I choose Layers, but it only shows one layer.

Here's what I'm talking about. I want to change "The Money Pit" to something else.

You can't edit the text that's in a bitmap (bmp) file. If you want the text to stay editable, you have to save it in the Photoshop (psd) format. BMP files are flattened when they're saved. You'll have to find the original picture and add the text again.

Thank you, igowerf. I didn't know that. At least I know WHY I can't do it, now. 😱

Have a good weekend.
