adding dvd drive to Dell 2400

I'm trying to add a dvd burner to my sister's dell 2400. the computer can't find the second drive that i added. Is there a jumper in the motherboard i need to set??

No, but there is a jumper on the dvd drive, and one on any other drive that is on the same cable that needs to be set. Does the bios see it?
