Adding CD Burner to a ATA 133 system

I want to add a DVD burner to my ATA 133 system. Presently, I have 3 ATA 133 drives. One on my primary and two on the secondary channel. I believe if I add the burner to my primary channel it will slow to the speed of the ATA 133 drive to that of the burner (UDMA 2). Is that correct?

If I add one of those cards that will go in a PCI slot to my PC, put the burner on it, will my other drives stay at ATA 133 (UDMA 6) while the burner runs at UDMA 2?

probably. what are your drives? do you have other optical drives? generally speaking, there is no need for a CDROM, CDRW, or DVDROM as your DVDburner will do the work of all 3.

yes.

My drives are Maxtor's. I am not sure what you mean by optical but I currently have a SCSI R412C plexwriter and a SCSI 32X Ultraplex. I will probably donate the plexwriter to my daughter but will keep the Ultraplex. It makes copying CD's that much easier.
