Adding another ATA device

I already have two devices on both of my motherboard's IDE channels, and I need to add a fourth one (DVD drive). I'm assuming I can't add any more than two per channel, so I need another way to add it. I don't suppose I could use the RAID channel in anyway to add just a single device?

Am I stuck in buying an extra PCI interface card?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that if your RAID controller is from HighPoint, you can use it as ordinary controller channels. May be limited to hard drives though. Check HighPoint's web site and mobo docs and on-line FAQs.
I don't know about RAID from Promise or AMI, you will have to check docs and on-line for solid info.

raid does not support ATAPI devices (CD/DVD CD-rom drives)

but I suggest u move over your harddisks to those channels (without actually using the raid function) and use the free IDE channel for your DVD
