Adding an internal USB 3.0 splitter...

Hey guys, my motherboard only has one internal USB header for 2 external USB ports, but I have a total of 4 external USB ports I want to connect, two from the chassis, and another two from a card reader. I looked far and wide for an internal USB 3.0 splitter and, while I managed to find one at FrozenCPU (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/22397/), I also read many comments about how it's a bad idea.

I'm assuming power draw might be an issue, but there will definitely be no more than 2 high amperage devices connected at once. Is there anything else I should be worried about?

surely someone will correct me if Im wrong. and i know nothing of usb 3.0 but common sense dictates you can't splice two usb device inputs together. Its not like plugging it earbuds.. usb devices use drivers. If it were that easy usb hubs should have gone out of buisness or failed from the start.

you need an internal usb card or a usb hub. assuming your using more than 2 usb devices at the same time on those ports

EDIT: BTW is that realy the proper pic for a usb3.0 internal cable? last time i saw a board usb3 wasn't out, and the internal usb terminals were just a few small pins... that looks like a F'n IDE cable lol

Resurrecting an old thread (sorry) - has anyone tried to do this (add an internal USB 3.0 splitter cable)? I'd ask Kantastic directly, but I can't send him/her a pm until I've posted 25 times.

Personally I would use a USB expansion card, I installed one to get front USB3.0 port usability. I did have some problems with one (I have 2) and recommend if you go that way to get one with a Renesas chipset/driver vs a VIA chipset/driver. The VIA card I tired to use borked up my SATA drivers and I had to reinstall all my drivers and such.
