I just recently realized that there were generic kits for adding power locks and windows to a vehicle that did not include them from the factory and they are much cheaper. How hard is it to add them to a typical car? My brother's Aveo5 is proving to be a pain without them.

Should he buy a combined kit? I wouldn't say a remote is needed at all, really... just the ability to lock and unlock all from a single point of entry.

i added door lockers to my dodge truck about 2 months after i bought it and realized it sucked having to turn the key every time i disabled the alarm. custom shop installed them and wired them to work with the factory remote entry (which was already integrated into the alarm system). they also told me the window kits i was looking at were poor quality, but that was a few years ago and i forget what brand it was. maybe call and ask a few local shops what brand they would use and see what their estimated cost would be to give yourself an idea of it all. the locks are easy peasy, the windows would be the harder project.

oh, and when i had the door locks installed i didnt have a switch, so the only way to unlock the doors was either at the door lock or by stopping the engine. i put a hidden 3-way switch in the dash so i can lock and unlock the doors at will. pretty neato stuff.
