Adding a wireless router to a network

I've tried searching the threads but nothing seems to match what I'm trying to do.

I want the Linksys to perform all the DHCP duties and the Netgear to serve as an access point. From what I gather, all I need to do is disable the Netgear's DHCP and it should work as I'd like it to.

The linksys defaults to 192.168.1.1
The negear defaults to 192.168.0.1

This bothers me. A lot. I want the Linksys to be 192.168.1.1 and the Netgear to be 192.168.1.2 (it's just easier to remember 1.2 than 0.1, go figure.) The linksys's DHCP range is set to 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.150, and I had my Netgear working with DHCP from 192.168.0.200-192.168.0.254, so that both routers were doing DHCP.

Anyway, I can't figure out how to configure the netgear to be 192.168.1.2. Every time I think I've done it, I lose all ability to connect to the Netgear. Has anyone any experience with this?

Why change it? You just need to connect to it to disable DHCP and enable wireless. Just hook it straight up to a computer to disable it without the other router hooked up.

it's in the lan ip option. under lan tcp/ip setup, change the ip address of the router and turn off dhcp.

you'll have to have the devices on the same subnet otherwise you can't login to the routers.

Get an access Point.

I have a clark connect router/server/forewall and I did not want to get a router for my wireless. I picked up an "a" access point and "a" card and Now I have wireless through out the house 😉

Every time I change the LAN IP I can't find the router I want to act like an AP. Everything is using the same subnet (255.255.255.0), I just want the AP router to use a different device address. I suppose I'll just give up for now and maybe tinker a bit more later. Thanks though!
