I have two cable tv lines coming into my house.
One is in the living room in the front of the house. My TV is hooked up to it via a digital cable box and my series two Tivo.
The other is in a back bedroom and my cable modem and wireless router are connected to it.
The reception in the living room is poor in some parts of the room and non existent in others.
I assume I can add another modem and wireless router to the line in the living room but will that give me two mac addresses and or cause interference?
Is there an easier way to get better reception to the living room using that cable there?
TIA

Hmmm...
So basically I need a router that accepts a coax extension cable (mine doesn't), an antenna and the cable?
Can you recommend a router? I may as well bite the bullet and do it right.
Thanks.

Nope, you basically have to Let Go that the existence of two Coax cables in the house is of use for any Networking endeavor.

Get a Repeater or a second Cable/DSL Router (to use as an Access Point with a Switch), and Extend the Current Wireless Network (Nothing to do with Cable TV or and RG-59 Coax).

Sorry, I thought that link was suggesting to use an additional antenna and an extension, coax cable.
I am still lost. :(
I have an SMC 7004VWBR (802.11b) router.
I have read where you said a repeater cuts the bandwidth in half.
So I need a router. Will any wireless router do or should I get the same type I currenty have.
Or, would you please suggest a router to use with my set up?

Well you can get any 802.11b Router that you can find (there are some for less than $20. Configure it as an Access Point with a Switch, instructions here: Using a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point

Get a CAT5e cable put the new Router some where in the hallway between the Bedroom and the Living Room and you probably would be fine.

This advice is pending the nature of your envioroment; I am not there so I do not know if there is any mitigate problematic circumstances, but given that as is you have a weak signal in the Living Room it should work if there is another closer Access Point.
