Adding a tablet to a data plan

I have Verizon service with my 1 year old Note 4 and am thinking about getting a tablet with cell service but am not up on the best options for adding a tablet to the plan. My plan gives me 10GB per month on the phone and even with the tablet added I think 10GB/month should be enough.

So, what are the options from Verizon to add the tablet with the lowest added cost?

I'm wondering myself if you could just pop your Verizon SIM in a tablet when you wanted to and not even sign up for a tablet plan

This is what I do.

Does that work they tried to tell me if I even tried it it would confuse the system and start charging me for a tablet plan and I would lose my unlimited.was that just Verizon bs.Do Android and iPad a use the same nano Sims

Well I spent about 45 minute on chat with a Verizon rep and she seemed to have been trained to confuse and obfuscate -- it took 45 minutes to learn it will cost me $10/month to add my tablet to my current plan and then share my current data. Her wording was so bad I needed to pin her down on every single point as she either didn't understand or was trained to be an asshole.

So, what I plan to do is buy the tablet outright and add it to my plan -- for the time being. I expect to have frequent data use on the tablet in the beginning but I don't know that I'll need it going forward. If that happen's I'll remove it from my plan and either swap the SIM, tether or use wifi.

Honestly, I would have preferred to talk to a computer!
