Adding a second hd to the xbox PROBLEM!

I was following this guide http://www.xboxhackz.com/tutorials/hardware/hdd/addinganextrahddwithswitch.htm

and when i connect the hd's and dvd-rom drive, it comes up with a requiring service, usually its a different number everytime. I've checked everything, i changed the order on the IDE cable, same problems, my power is correctly wired as well, the jumpers are correct, I think ive pretty much checked out everything. Does anyone know whats wrong?


I can even plug one hd in with power, and the dvd-rom drive in with power, and just put the other hd on the ide cable with no power and the error still appears.
