Adding a PIV to my herd.

My father bout a Gateway with the New PIV chip in it. Sucks that the keyrate will be aweful, bit I am hoping they will release a new client soon that helps the performance.

Does anyone know if it's better at OGR? If it is, I might just run that instead.

Thanks.

Assuming that the distributed.net speed page is correct, the P4 will get approximately 5.18MNodes/sec in OGR @ 1300MHz.

I would recommend running RC5 on it. We need all the help we can get 🙂.

I got a P4-1.4 here, it does about as good as a P3-700.....

In fact the old gui client ver.444 gave me the best speed....

I get 1.87 mkeys/sec....

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo...................

🙂

SW,

It's a 1.4 GHZ machine. I did a benchmark and I get the same numbers you do with the latest version. Hope they come up with a better core. That just isn't right to get teh same as a PIII 700. 🙁

Jator, based on opportunity costs, it would be better to run Seti on that machine until a new client is released. Kind of like K6's and OGR. Of course the choice is up to you, and we do need to beat the DPC's into the ground🙂 Go TA!

I have tried Seti before and I didn't find it fit my tastes. Not to say it's not a worthy project, but it seems lately they have had a lot of minor bugs as well, so I will stick to Rc5 for now and hope for an improved core from DNet.

That's cool. RC5 is my personal preference too, but I'm running SETI on my main machine now because I felt like a little change. Still getting about 1400 blocks a day too!

So far I have been running v3.03 CLi with no probs : ,also the servers have been behaving them selves since the new client release over 1 month ago ,not to mention there are plenty of good buffering programs too 🙂
