Anyone know how I would go about allowing a user to read their work email (Exchange) on their phone? I know there is an option for exchange but that only works through wifi I believe so they need to be in range of the network to be able to access it (we don't open up exchange to the outside world for obvious security reasons).

Is there maybe some kind of plugin that can make it work with a BES server? I wish the user would of just got a blackberry it would make our lives so much easier.

You are wanting to look at Exchange ActiveSync. Although, since you don't open up your exchange server to the internet, it might not work. I personally think Exchange ActiveSync is easier to setup and administrate than BES, plus you don't have to pay for the BES licenses.

Just out of curiosity, what are the obvious security reasons you don't allow external access to Exchange?

That means I would be opening up a hospital mail server to the entire world. Any bots or hackers could try to brute force their way in and then read people's email, not good.

One thing I did think of though is, would a mobile phone have a static IP? Or is it dynamic? If it's static I could always look at opening up the port just for his phone's IP.
