Adding 98SE AFTER Win2k??

I havent actually attempted it yet, I assume there shouldnt be any problems, but just asking 🙂

I was reading the notes about dual booting with 98 or whatever it is I found on the CD, and it said if you were going to be setting up a dual boot with Win2k and 98, you should install 98 before Win2k, I'm assuming because of the FAT32/NFTS incapability? I'm not sure.

I shouldnt have any problems should I? I have an 80gb HDD with one 40gb, 30gb and 5gb partition, I plan on putting 98 on the 5gb partition, and I already have 2k on the first 40gb partition.

Just checking 🙂 And I'd use the search function, but it only searches the post titles, and not IN the post themselves, so its literally useless and never really turns up many useful matches, if any at all, so TIA 🙂

Well, it should be don't the other way. When you install 98 you wont be able to boot into 2k until you modify the boot.ini file. I tried it once and it didn't work for me. Hopefully someone who has done this with some success before can help.

Also, you should make sure you install 98 on another partition, meaning not the same as 2k, and make it fat32.

Your boot.ini should look something like this when done:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"
