Has anyone ever added a second socket to a socket 7 mobo? I have an old Tyan Tomcat mobo, it has the place for a second socket and dual CPU support in the Bios, but no socket is there. Anyone know what would be involved in adding a second socket to it?

Are there any connctions on the mobo going to the "space" for the 2nd socket?? id so, you could always try your hand at soldering one in from an old mobo. Your odds of wrecking the mobo are very high, especially if you do not have any soldering experience. But I'm the kinda person that would give it a shot ;-)

Even a second CPU is not going to help much compared to just upgrading the whole works. I guess you could just try to solder the cpu directly to the board, the pin-out dimensions ought to be the same (hehe, what have you got to loose). A zif socket7 is going to be hard to come by unless you can rob one off an old board.
