I suffer from chronic migraines and my doctor has prescribed me hydrocodone. Now, I have gone through nearly every sort of testing the doctors can think of. I have been on quite a few different prescriptions and nothing has helped over a long period of time. I am now addicted to hydrocodone. It's just about the only thing that has helped me in any way deal with the pain. The addiction is driving me crazy though. I have a NEED for it... Is there anywhere I can go?

It's just hydrocodone. Tough it out over a weekend. Lock yourself in a room with lots of porn, water, food, and maybe some video games.

oh you can just go get another Rx. :)

do you want to get off of vicodin/hydrocodone? Why do that if that's the only thing that will help your pain?

You've taken the first step by wanting to seek help. The next step is finding a good support group or rehabilitation center in your area. Stick with it, addiction is a nasty thing. I've seen too many people go down to gutter due to it, good for you for wanting to seek help.

Like I said before in the "vicodin" thread. It was very easy for me to quit, I stop when I ran out. And I don't want to spend money to get it from the internet.

The withdrawl is a PITA for a week, but you'll get over it.

The strength of the addiction varies from person to person, you can't say "it's just hydrocodone" or "it's easy to get over" if you don't know how the person reacts to the drug.

Well, I do love it when I took it... I can see how people would be addicted to it... but I guess I don't have that addiction personality in me. I'd take it again if my dentist give it to me. (I rather buy it using my insurance, my cheapness overcomes my addiction everytime).

I want to quit because I hate the need for it. I have quit and gone through the whole withdrawal thign before but... sometimes the pain is just too much and then I'm hooked again and then I stop... Sucks ass.

Why stop? Take it for pain, that's a legit reason.

I took it recreationally, which is not a good reason.

I have migraines frequently (to the point where they often make me sick) and Zomeg works wonderfully if I take it in time. However, I have an Aunt who gets them much worse than I do and it sounds like you are in the same boat she was. She had a horrible time with them for many many years (missing work often, ect...) until she found how effective Botox is for long-term relief.

She has had 3 or 4 treatments now and each Botox treatment lasts for approxiametly 6 months. So she went from having chronic migraines almost daily to not having them at all. She sometimes still feels the pressure build up which occassionally makes her sick but she does not get the pain that normally accompanies them and is able to go about her day without any other negative effects.

Unfortunetly, until Botox is studied more for this particular use insurance will not cover it in most cases. She has luckily found a doctor who will call her when they have left over Botox and if she can go in on short notice the doctor will administer the Botox treatment free of charge since it will go to waste if it is not used within a short time period.

Botox for Migraines

Best Wishes!:D

Don't encourage him to take it. If he feels he is addicted then he should try and stop it. If you are having trouble getting off it, then go seek some help with it. Don't listen to the people who have never been addicted to something, but have only used things "recreationally".

have you tried Midrin (gen: Migrin-A) or Imitrex yet?...those are probably a lot less habit forming and are for migraines and severe headaches..

Yes, I have been prescribed both of those. Their effectiveness has been zero for a little over a year now. Zomig does not work because it is basically the same as Imitrex so I have the same resistance.

I don't think i've ever experienced a migraine before...what exactly does it feel like?...
and...are there triggers that cause migraines?...if so..maybe you can keep a journal or something detailing the environmental factors..what you ate..drank, etc to try to figure out what causes the migraines...I did something like that to try to figure out why I would get shortness of breath seemingly out of nowhere...and maybe..once you figure out the trigger..you can learn to deal with it without any sort of medication (or less)
