I am completely addicted to Chapstick!

How the hell do I cure this?

I am tired of having to carry a stick al year long....

Wean yourself off it.

I'm guessing that, physiologically, your body expects the Chapstick and can't produce the moisture needed for your lips on its own. So... I guess you've just turned a physical dependence into a psychological one. =p

I'd say it's not much different from smoking, so maybe you should try one of those 12-step programs. :)

If you stop your lips will get dry and nasty. Then women will run away at the mere sight of you. There is no stopping now. Keep applying!

I'm insanely addicted, but I like having healthy uncracked lips. I think I've always had dry lips because I remember craving chapstick when I was about 7. :Q

Someone (maybe me?) should come up with a patch for this chapstick crap.

I swear, I cannot go more than 3 hours without applying it.

I get dressed, and the first thing in my pockets is my damn chapstick.

never heard of anyone getting addicted to it. I rarely use it, although it did help with razor burn back when I got that.

Best stuff I ever used came from Spain! Tasted good, smelled great, and works quite well. Which was good considering how badly my lips chapped on the way over there, ugh

unless you play a brass instrument, the stuff in regular blistex isn't so great for you

Most lip balms supposedly have chemicals or ingredients that only temporarily provide dry lip relief, then actually dry your lips out more, so you have to keep re-applying.

I had chronic chapped lips (if there is such a thing) after taking Accutane when I was a teenager. I also got "addicted", but someone clued me into Vaseline in the little squeeze tubes. It's much better than Chapstick, Blistex, Carmex, or anything else I've tried. I went from applying several times an hour to only 3-4 times a day.

Isn't Accutane wonderful? I remember applying chapstick constantly but still having lips crack open and bleed.

As a trumpet player I cannot allow myself to get addicted to chap stick, but like everyone else I need it occasionally. The very best solution that I've found is plain old vasoline in a tube (as someone else already mentioned). However a great alternative to this is chop saver. I've found it to be hardly addicting and to last longer.

I have one in my car, room, work office, and my pocket. If I don't apply them, I keep licking my lips. Luckily it's a cheap addiction.

Just stop carrying it. Apply it in the morning and leave it at home. Then a week later, just toss it out.

I wear the "moisture" kind simply for the UV protection (never had chapped lips even in the dead of winter.) Don't put it through the wash though, it leaves poka-dot like stains.

I wish it were so simple!

I have tried leaving it @ home, but then I just get out of work and to a store nearby.

I used to use the Chapstick brand, but that had me going a couple of times every hour.

Now I use blistex and "only" apply it once every 2 hours or so.

I tried the vaseline in a tube thig along time ago, didn't do much for me either.

Where is the damn "stop applying chapstick patch"?
