I have an Adaptec 2940U2W SCSI card, the correct SCSI cable terminated, and 2 Fujitsu 10K 18 gig HDs.

First, I put it into my current setup but, but it doesn't POST. All drives spin up, MB light is green, and everything seems to work. But, no video feed from the video card.

So I pull EVERYTHING out except the video card and MB. So now, it's a MB, SCSI card, and it still does not POST. After many trys, it POSTS once. I notice that both HDs are detected. I'm happy. So I plug back the CD drives and plan to install win2k. It doesn't POST again.

Did this for 2 hours and it only POSTed twice.

Anyone have any ideas? Anything I should consider? Any help would be appreciated. I know the MB is not being shorted.

I had a very simular problem. Spent two days pulling my hair out and changing every single component in the computer. Like Homer Simpson says "how come when you lose something it's always in the last place you look?" The last and final thing I tried was the power supply. With everything connected to the power supply it would not post and with video memory and processor it would sometimes and sometimes not. As soon as I put a drive, whether it was a floppy cdrom or hardrive, on it wouldn't post. I didn't suspect the power supply because I thought they either worked or didn't. Turned out a PC Power and cooling 300w power supply couldn't power a floppy. RMA'ed it and now all is well.

Thanks for the info. Lucky for me, I just purchased a spare power supply a week ago. I'll see if it works.

I suspected, at first, that the 2 10K RPM SCSI HDs were guzzling all the power from the power supply. They did sound like an airplane was preparing to take-off when i powered on the comp.
