Added Panaflo at front for intake - Temps have not been affected

I added a front intake fan, a Panaflo L1A. Before I had nothing up front. As it stands now, at the rear I have a Panaflo L1A as well as the PSU exhaust fan, and the Panaflo up front for intake. Since adding the front intake fan my temps have remained the same. I have seen no change in temperature, CPU or case.

My question: Should I have expected a decrease in temperature? Is this fan doing any good, or is it just a waste of power? If it's not helping with temperatures then surely all it's doing is pulling in dust and other crap.

The fan is situated correctly and is acting as an intake.

the cpu temps you are looking at are probably not going to be affected by a low-cfm front intake.
Typically this fan will force air over a HD or towards your GPU, so if you could sensor those temps you might see a difference.
I'm not a huge fan (sry no pun intended) of front intakes unless you have HD's to cool.
It would be much much much better to cut an intake fan over the gpu or a duct over the cpu.

Actually, I noticed that CPU temps increased with the fan at the front. AMD engineers don't recommend a front intake - now I know why.

I did a similar thing; but I removed my loud rear exhaust fan, and now have just a really quiet panaflo 120mm intake up front. Once I cleared the dust bunnies off the front grill, my temps were back to normal (within 1-2 degrees, and I don't overclock or anything), and the noise from the old rear fan was pleasantly missing:). I've been letting my PSU be the only exhaust fan as punishment for being so loud. I'm soon switching to a quieter Antec True 430 PSU and a quieter 80mm fan to replace the old rear screamer.

For machines you build yourself, you owe it to your ears to make sure you're not over-doing it with the fans.

Adding front fans doesn't do much, except in restrictive cases where the added pressure can increase airflow. Many stock cases benefit tremendously by moving the fan from the stock front intake position to the rear exhaust position- the Enlight 7237 is a prime example....

If you have fans blowing hot air out of the case (which we all do), then air must come in from somewhere or your case would implode. Adding an intake fan does nothing except control where the air enters the case. It will not cool off the overcall case at all (it may help components that the intake air flows over). The advantage of using intake fans is the ability to place filters in front of them to reduce dust inside the case. We could also get into the positive vs. negative air flow discussion, but you can do a search to read all of the threads on that topic.
