EDIT***
thanks to sxr and n7 i now kno the problem.

however, what does epp #1 and epp#2 mean on on slots 2 + 4? and y doesnt slots 1 + 3 have it?

So recently ive been wanting to add some more Ram to my comp so last friday i put in the order to newegg (link to new and old ram below [corsair and crucial]). This sunday i got around to putting it in and after installation opened up system properties and ran cpuid to see if everything checked out, which it did not

Off the bat my comp is only recognizing 3.5gigs when i have 6gigs installed. Secondly the new memory isnt registering and spd extension. Tbh i dont even kno what spd ext. is so if anyone can notice nething out of the ordinary please please let me kno.

Sense a picture is worth a thousand words i screen shotted it

Old ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820148076

Its hard to ask a question when i really dont kno what im unsure about. Something isnt right, does neone notice nething? is the ram faulty? to cruical and corasir have issues of confliction?

thanks in advance

My thoughts are 1 of the new sticks is dead. 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = ~4 and if i have 3.5 im guessing 2 + dead + 1 + 1.

ill have to run a memtest tom, but i figured id post here first to see if there was nething noticeable out of the norm. Could someone also please explain to me what spd ext. means exactly?

Whats your OS?

EDIT: Oh I see now. You are running a 32bit OS. You can't use more than 3.5GB on a 32 bit OS.

Yep, 3.5GB is all you'll see on 32bit XP.

EPP are "enhanced performance profiles" built into some ram sticks - basically some default settings that are written on the memory chips that some motherboards can read. Sort of suggested overclocking/tightened timings that the memory should be good for.
