-Boxology Sub-woofer Box, bought used on corvette forums
-Amp Rack, bought used on corvette forums
-JL 500/1 Slash Series Amp, used off craigslist
-Tsunami 2.0 Farad Capacitor, used off craigslist (blue LED's are covered w/ black electrical tape)
-JL 2AWG Wiring, bought used (was in great shape) from the same person i bought the amp from
-JL 10W3V3-4 Sub-woofer, bought new

I did all the wiring myself (I wanted a clean look, so I did it myself). Total cost was just over 700 bucks... not bad at all, I'm VERY happy with it. Takes up very little room in the trunk, and provides good amount of bass. but not too much which is nice... I took the time to tune the gain properly w/ a voltmeter, and tune the Bass EQ.

Now to the pics...

Sub-woofer Box in it's place w/ the sub mounted (~ 1/2 pound of poly fil):

Trunk view looking to the right (the wire in the wireloom is the power cable going to the battery which is in the trunk for the z06... this is the only thing I am not proud of):

Trunk view looking to the right (small storage bin here):

Looking to the rear from the passenger seat (purposely placed the amp in this direction so I can easily make adjustments from the drivers seat if need be):

Looking to the rear from the drivers seat (you can see the blue lights that I covered up w/ electrical tape)

Closeup of the amp (pardon the ****ty quality, it was hard to get a good picture of it... the remote wire was thrown in at the last minute. I had planned on using the "signal sensing" but that didn't pan out... so i guess it's 2 things i am not proud of...):

Just out of curiosity, was what appears to be 1 gauge truly worth the expense, or did you happen to have it laying around?

Very clean install nonetheless.

Gauge is only worth it if you are really pulling that much power and/or if its a really long run. If not then it will be usually wasted.

Precisely what I was implying which is why I was asking why what looks like 1 was used. A 500w amp would be fine with 10 gauge, possibly higher with ease.. just going off install experiences of yore the price of 1 is outrageous, which is why I was curious if it was just laying around.

So this amp runs off of the stock headunit?

The signal? yes... i want to keep the factory navigation/stereo for various reasons.. mainly the integration w/ the HUD, steering wheel controls, etc...

JL Audio? Baller.

I wanted to go with nice stuff, plus I got some awesome deals on the amp/cap/wiring kit. The sub i got was fairly priced IMHO

so i bought the 500/1 used on craigslist from someone for 200 bucks. When I met up w/ him, he said he had a 2 AWG wiring kit (in great condition) and a 2.0 farad cap. In the end, I paid $240 for the 500/1, 2 AWG wiring kit, and the 2.0 Farad Cap... good deal right? i couldn't turn it down...

Damn good deal actually. I wasn't trying to rag on you, was just making sure someone didn't charge you a ridiculous price for a heavy gauge kit you didn't need.

so sexy!
saw an yellow Z06 on the road the other day. Dont see many C6 Z06 here and I was floored by how wide and low it is. Truly a menacing look

Alot of people who have never seen or been in one will talk smack about how it's cheap Chevy this or that and made out of plastic. But when you see one in person, the exterior fit and finish and paint job is so flawless and world class and as good as any Ferrari or anything of that sort that I've ever see.

The C6 is a huge improvement on the C5. They are gorgeous. Sadly some people will never see the marvel that it is just because they can't put "Chevy" out of their simpleton mind for 2 seconds and appreciate the car on it's own merit.

Fair enough, do you have the stock bose system?

yeah, we'll see how long that lasts... i do like the integration w/ the HUD and the steering wheel controls.

Is the car in your avatar yours? I used to have a 2003 Cobra, slightly modified :p

Hmm, I saw a blue vette cruising at maybe 75-80 in the left lane northbound on 28 today.

At the New York Auto Show, 2009, there was a huge line of people mocking the rear bumper cover of the ZR-1. They kept leaning against it, and it would flex. And they'd laugh and say something like GM SUCK HAHAHA! And I'm standing there, drooling on the thing, thinking it's the greatest performing US legal vehicle. And people care about how the rear bumper cover plastics react when you lean against them. That's the important thing apparently. Because if you build something light, it is "bad". The fucking bumper can handle 210mph, suck my dick! I can go over to the Toyota booth and show you a harder thicker cheaper plastic bumper that will crack at 150. It'll weigh 3 times as much too. But that's "good" apparently.
