added a 7800gt to a gateway machine

the machine still powers on, but i cant get any video without unplugging the cable from the nvidia card and plugging it into the onboard video. its kind of weird. is it possible that the reason for this is that there is not enough power to it from the generic psu that is in this gateway?

Did you disable the onboard video in the bios after installing the 7800?

you need to set the display device in the bios to pci-e or agp. most of the time it is set to onboard or even pci.
