I have a HP EliteBook 8530w. I want to add an SSD to it. I wan to use the SSD along with the 7200rpm 2.5" I currentely have. I want to know if the Mini Pcie based SSD like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227438 would work?

I know that my other alternative is to get Hard Drive caddy for my CD/DVD drive and then replace that Hard drive with a SSD. unfortunately i cannot find only the caddy. The Hp part comes with a 5400rpm Hard drive and i dont want to pay 150USD just to extract the caddy,

In order to use it along side the current HDD you'll need to find some sort of external enclosure. Your best bet would be to replace the current HDD and place it in the enclosure rather then the SSD. That way the SSD can be the primary boot drive for the OS and the HDD can be for data.

NP, hope it works out well.

I bought the secondary caddy for my DV9550t back in Summer of 07 with the help of this forum. I now run dual 320GB Western Digital blacks, hope to upgrade to double 500's soon seeing as this laptop is going to have to hold me over at least another 1.5 years till I'm done hopping around state to state.
