I have 2 sites hosted with Addaction and currently one of them is down. It was working fine 20 minutes ago and now I am not even getting DNS resolution on 3 different ISPs as well as a few websites. The domain registration is current and good through 2004 and nothing has changed whatsoever.

Here are the nameservers it's using:

DNS servers:
NS1.ADDACTION26.COM
NS2.ADDACTION26.COM

Before I submit a trouble ticket I thought I'd check here. (No posts at webhostingtalk.com yet)

EDIT: I submitted a ticket to thier support system at approx 12:3PM CST (7 minutes ago) and already got a response (yay for support!)

Hi Drew,

The Orion server has a planned Kernel upgrade and there are some issue they are looking in to. No ETA on when it will be back up but we are working on it.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Regards,

John

Mine's also working but it seems a little slow would someone please confirm?

Slow or not?

PlanetHzl.com is up and running.

As is yagt.org

Could just be your server, login to your cPanel look at the top what server are you on? I'm on Taurus I think.

Also don't forget to contact their support for a definite answer as to why your site is down.

Where do your nameservers point?

RossMAN: I can't get to my cPanel because the site doesn't resolve.... (ie, domain.com/cpanel goes to Page Cannot Be Displayed)

I'll fire up a ticket I guess. Thanks all!

BTW - I didn't submit the ticket yet. I'll give it about 30 minutes.....

Kinda weird that they'd be doing something like this during the daytime, especially during business hours.... I'm guessing a lot of their customers are running businesses that rely on their site (though a smart business would spend even more on hosting or even host their own).

My Discovery site is up too -- don't forget to email them to get a free month from last week's downtime. :)

Agreed, it could be because of the data center they only have a specified window of time to perform updates or this is critical and should be done NOW.

Otherwise I think the ideal time would be around 3AM EST when most of America/Canada are asleep.

I can't seem to access the cpanel from work, only from home. Anyone else have that problem? Im guessing its our corporate firewall.

cPanel uses port 2082 so the firewall guess is likely correct. Maybe they can open it for you?

Same here, I usually can't check port 2082 (cPanel) or 2095 (webmail) because of our corporate firewall.

Sometimes it allows me in but usually not, it's weird.

PM me your email address and I'll forward you the stuff I got from them (it'll clutter this thread up too much)

Mine's down. It's on orion. Did anyone else know that they had a harddrive blow up last week or something? Two of my friends sites were down because of it. I think they get a free month.

Yep, that was the Discover outage. I'm hoping for a free month out of this too. (I have one site on Orion, one on Discover)

Subject: Discover server hardware failure

Dear Customer,

Currently we are working diligently on restoring the DISCOVER server. Earlier today the main hard disk failed. The disk has been replaced and we are now working on restoring the software and all accounts from the backups we have. This process will take a few more hours.

We apologize for this unfortunate occurance, and since the uptime goes below 99.7% this month for the DISCOVER server, you can contact our billing department at: billing@addaction.net to receive a credit to your account.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

We thank you for understanding.

Regards,

AddAction Team
