Add side scrolling to non-supporting touchpad

I've reinstalled Windows XP on a Toshiba NB200 netbook. The touchpad is an old Synaptics that doesn't, apparently, support side scrolling - strange as it might sound, the Synaptics driver (which I installed the latest version of) doesn't let me enable it in any way.
Is there a third-party program that recognizes when the finger is on the side of the touchpad and enables scrolling?

Thanks.

Try contacting Synaptics tech support. They may have assistance./answers

Gah, it was a case of PEBKAC. Touchpad is an Alps unit, not Synaptics. Switched to the proper driver and everything is fine. *facepalms at self*
