I find duplicate entries in Add/Remove Programs list (Control Panel.) Is there a source for this info that can be edited to get rid of dupes?

This might help.

Add/Remove Pro v. 2.08

displays the entries in the Add/Remove Programs list of Windows Registry, checks if each is
valid, and uninstalls the selected program or removes the entry from the list.

if you're sure it's a true duplicate, you can remove them from the registry yourself in hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall.

OK - Lilith's proggie works, but it did not solve the problem. Here is a clip from the Add/Remove Programs page in Control Panel. Note 5 iterations of the program, and none have a "change/Remove" button or file size. The program works perfectly - but something got lost in the translation somewhere.

Dupes

I see the solution as uninstall and reinstall that proggie.

Start / Run / regedit.

Go to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall. Find the duplicate keys under the Uninstall key and remove them.

Yep. Generally when there is a big gap like that in the listing
it is the program directly above the gap that is the offender.

I have that exact program installed but the icon is not a
Macromedia Flash icon like yours.

Why would you want to install a program with a footprint soley dedicated to this instead of performing a little reg edit? Especially if it doesn't solve this multiple entry problem. Or utilizing a more encompassing and useful program like CCleaner?

CCleaner's scan for issues should take of this. I image and remove all MS Uninstall backups as well as deleting the I386 folder (to save disk space) and CCleaner removes the "unwanted" entries in Add/remove impeccably. It's a great program to facilitate cleaning index.dat files and serves many purposes for other cleaning as well as removing "unwanted" leftover entries.

Well, because I went in to the Registry as was suggested, and there was no duplicate entry. It is obviously a mistake - a communication breakdown between the install program and the Registry. Something got garbeled in the translation.

It only takes about 10 minutes to completely remove the DeLorme program and reinstall it.

I ran your CCleaner program, and like the other suggestions - it found nothing wrong.
