Add new print driver without forcing all clients to update driver

We have a Windows 2008 R2 print server with 20-25 Xerox printers and a few other models. I've found that when we add a new model printer and try to install the newest driver for it, users with previously installed printers are then asked to update the printer driver on their systems before they can print (even though nothing has changed for them). How can we keep this from happening when we add a new printer with the latest driver? I'm always looking to minimize user impact, so if this can be avoided, it would kick ass...

Again, just adding a new printer to the server is causing users to have to update their printer driver even though we havent touched their current active printer, or their computers.

Thanks

Are these new printers using the same driver as the other ones?

There's a good chance installing that new print driver is overwriting the previous version of the Xerox print driver already being deployed to all those workstations, which is prompting them.

If its setup correctly, the driver will load when a printer is deployed from a server via GPO. So there is no printerdriver involved as such from a client. Its essentially remote printing type. And you can update the server driver for everyone to be updated.
