Add hyperthreading CPU require OS install?

Not that I'm doing it yet (I just got a P4PE w/ 2.5 gig processor - I couldn't see spending $350 more for the 3.0 gig chip), but I'm assuming upgrading later will require an OS re-install to detect the hyperthreading capable CPU, or do you think XP will be smart enough to detect it after it's popped in, and hyperthreading is turned on in the bios?

Under Win2000/XP, you need to make a change to the "Computer" properties under "Device Manager". In a sinlge processor install, it will have ACPI Uniprocessor PC under "Computer". Right Click, Properties, Select the Driver tab, Click "Update Driver", Select "Display a List...", NEXT, Select "Show all hardware...", select "ACPI Multiprocessor PC", NEXT.

That should do it.
