I have recently been interested in this topic to calculate my houses thermal efficiency and greater understanding of my utility cost structure as it relates to usage. It would require some historical monitoring of temperature.
Also, networking in a few cameras i could look at would be helpful as well as recording audio "incidents" that register higher than some defined level (gunshots, carhorns, sirens ect...)
I think this is a topic that many old nerds like myself who have grown up with Anandtech have gotten into and there is a ton of stuff out there i know, just dont know who to talk to with experience! There were quite a few topics listed in "off topic" when i searched.
