Add a second card or just upgrade?

I'm currently running a nVIDIA GeForce 7900GT 256MB in 2560x1600. I'm not really happy with the overall performance since I upgraded to a 31" widescreen (framerates are not up to par), and I'm trying to decide whether I should add another of the same card, or if I should upgrade to a new single card.

Opinions? It looks like someone was recommending the 8800GTX a few days ago for that resolution, but I'm kind of fuzzy on whether I'll actually get better performance out of adding a second card or switching cards entirely.

Thanks!

At that resolution anything less than an 8800GTX or X1950 Crossfire is going to give you unacceptable gaming performance. Even an 8800GTX struggles with some games @ 2560x1600 with maximum eye candy... buying a 30" LCD is going to force you to have basically the fastest card on the market all the time.

Since i'd hate to recommend SLI or CF to anyone, i'd say look into the 8800 GTX.

Or if you don't mind waiting, we'll eventually being seeing the new AMD cards, & nV's refresh, which should be even better.
