ADC655 Realtek codec on 8IPE1000Pro

I installed the default manually from the CD and it shows up in Device Manager as installed and functioning but it doesn't show in sound control panel as having any device selected to play sounds and no mixer detected and when trying to play something it says no sound card installed.

But it has the little sound effects icon in the tool bar but when I go to click Sound Manager to try configure the auto sensing ports etc it doens't do anything and on further investigation there is nothing in the Realtek Sound Manager folder under program files so it doesn't appear to have anything installed there.

If I then uninstall the Realtek codec from Add/Remove files it successfully removes and on reboot it detects and automatically installs the drivers and I can then hear sound as it seems to have it selected as the mixer but it then doesn't have any sound manager software icon or anything. This is the best state though because I can actually play music with it.

I've tried installing manually from the CD and also downloading the software bundle from the gigabyte website for Realtek, but none of that will make it work as desired.

Can anyone please help or advise me?
