ADBLOCK no longer effective against ads?

I noticed more and more ads and popups appear on the websites. I use FF and adblock and noticed that the filter hasn't been updated since Juny 2007. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Any better filters out there?
 
My Adblock Plus filter subscription (Rick752's EasyList) last updated itself on September 4th.
 
Yeah, EasyList has been updated this morning (Sept 10) now.

I'm not sure the current story with Adblock... development stopped, then someone else started it, then it ended and was on Mozilla's list of inactive projects, now I guess it is going again? Something like that anyway. But Adblock Plus has been pretty good, so I've just been using that, plus it includes automatic subscription updating so you don't need an additional plugin like Filterset g.
