is there any way to convert 1 end of the power cord into a regular outlet?
i have a lot of these cables and would like to convert them into extension cables...

you could do that, or cut the end off, and get a female plug from the hardware store. Not much of an extension cable though.
 
I'm still trying to figure out how a 3 wire AC cord discussion made it's way into the 'highly technical' area. What am I missing here?
