This is pissing me off. Can't figure it out !!

I have a Panasonic 8x4x32x CD-RW, I have the latest Adaptec Easy CD-Creator and Direct CD for Win2000, and of course Win2000. I have made 7 coasters in a row... trying to fix it in between CD's. Re-starting first, re-installing.. tried music and data. Nothing, It will burnt he first song or two then eject and say it has a buffer underfun error or some crap... WTF is this ? I HAVE to be able to use my burner, please somone help !

Thanks already !

Do you have a program running in the background hogging your resources? That might cause the buffer underruns that are producing the coasters.

This is just a random guess, not sure if it applies, do you have DMA enabled on the burner and drive? Have you tried any other burning programs to see if it's the drive or programs fault?

Ok let me think here. In the background I have some running aps (taksbar stuff, thats all). Nothing to big I dont think, nothing that didn't run when I had 98se too...

I will try that Nero and see what happenes...

Tried Nero (Unregistered) And it worked great. No problem... this sucks.. I live Adaptec's software.. and its the Full Version.. Nero will quit after a while 🙁

Hmm...

update your aspi. Go to adaptecs site and search for the aspi32.exe It fixed my problems. sorry i dont have a direct link.

It will fix nero as well.

this is copied from adaptec site :
Caution:
Do NOT install ASPI32.EXE with Windows 2000, Windows ME, Easy CD Creator 4.x, or with Windows Media Player 7.0. If you have one of these applications (or OS), you will be using a different aspi layer that will conflict with the one provided in this file.

If the burner is IDE and you have installed the i815 UATA drivers that could be your problem. The ATA drivers don't like IDE burners.

You might also check whether there are firm-ware updates for your Panasonic burner. In addition, when you're trying to isolate burning problems, simplify the process: copy or rip the cd material to a folder on your hard drive. Then try burning from hd rather than from cd. This drastically reduces buffer run-over errors. Also, try burning at a slower speed (start at 2x, then go up as you get stable error-free results).

I apperciate your help guys.

The problem is fixed (seems to be 🙂 ) Re-Installing Easy CD Creator didn't do anything but I uninstalled it and put er back on there... and 4 sucessful CD's later I'm posting this... hmm knock on wood I guess 😀

Thanks again...
