Well that depends. Adpatec doesn't even run correctly on my 2k machine(installs a bad service) so I use CDRWin which is pretty nice software. Nero installs a service too if I remember correctly so I've stayed away from that too. If you're in 98 though, Adaptec is easy to use although it's bloatware.. But I still use it in my 98 partition. :)

Do a search in this forum on Nero. You will see that it is the best all around cdrw software. This topic has actually been done to death. Got my Plextor 16x10x40 today with Adaptec, I went and got Nero instead.

It has some extra features like being able to make artwork for cd covers but I think that most of that software can be had for free if you buy any kits from a store or online. I don't bother much with the cd covers or jewel case artwork.

Nero is just a good solid burning software that runs well on windows 2000!

The important bits - the actual mechanics of ripping and writing are much better in Nero. CDs that EasyCD refuses to rip sail through fine in Nero.

My main gripe with Nero is with the less important aspects - specifically the window arrangements (Nero never remembers window settings and returns to default each time) and some odd quirks with the functionality and design of the GUI, but overall I like it alot.

Starting with Nero 5.5 we will have a pretty well rounded cd cover labeling program that should be compatable with many brands of cd labels. It will also introduce much simpler methods of burning video cd's among other break through features. Some may consider this bloat ware, but then they may make it optional. BTW, most label companies have free downloadable software. I get the Mediaface software online and use Fellow's labels. I've never bought anything but the labels themselves. I do most of my artistic stuff in Paint Shop Pro.

I have been considering buying a CDR and look at these posts with interest.
My friend has a Maxell 8432 CDR, probably the cheapest he could source and it runs the Adaptec software.
So far it has copied every disk without fail.
I'm not so sure why everybody has any major problems with the software and all the slanging Acraptec etc etc.
Is Nero better for getting around copy protection etc?

adaptec is easier to use in my opinion. its interface is just plain simple. it took me some time to figure out nero but nero makes less coasters.

EZCD or Nero will not copy many protected CD's for that you should try CloneCD from www.elby.de
If it were just between ezcd and nero, well i have not had any problems with EZCD but i prefer NTI CD-Maker 2000 Pro

Well The Adabtec make Coasters doesn't Fly with me. I use adaptec EZ Deluxe. I have yet to make a Coaster that was not due copyprotestion. 3 total. I think at this rate Look at the features and GET A QUALITY BURNER. Do Some reasearch don't Just Get A PLEXTOR. The burner You want again depends on hwat you plan on burning. I use ADAPTEC Spin Doctor for Music and clone for DATA backups. The Direct CD Feature is Kinda Useless. I really Liked NTI but I have a 2 year old version and just haven't gotten around to updating it.
