I've got one of these things from a family member's business and I'm trying to sell it for them. From what I've read its a storage server, but I don't have any experience at all with these things or know how to work em.

I'm going to need to

A) Test it to make sure it works

and

B) wipe the hard drives

can anyone point me in the right direction? any help is much appreciated

HI slayer202

i can help you out with what info and support that you need with this unit?

I used to be tec support for adaptec in australia before the snap dept was sold off to overland storage 2yrs ago.

to get support from overland for this unit, you will need to have a current contract with them.

The unit is a network storage devices, that uses a web broswer to access the web interface management features.

if the unit powers up, with no amber leds on the front panel (this is a good sign, no issues), then the system is working ok?

To Connect Using the Server Name
This procedure requires that name resolution services (via Windows Internet Naming Service [WINS] or Domain Name System [DNS]) be operational.

1 Find the server name.
The default server name is SNAPnnnnnn, where nnnnnn is the server number.
For example, the name of a Snap Server with a server number of 610019 is SNAP610019.
The server number is a unique, numeric-only string that appears on a label affixed to the Snap Server.
To obtain the server number, remove the front bezel to read the label if it is not on the outside of the case.

2 Connect to the server.
In a Web browser, enter the following URL:
http://SNAPnnnnnn (where nnnnnn is the server number)
Press Enter. The Web View screen opens.

3 Log into the Administration Tool.
Click the administration link, and in the login dialog box, enter admin as the username and admin as the password, and then click OK.

This will gain you access to the management interface where you can clean the system of old data, or just delete raid volume, then recreate it. This process will remove all data that is stored on this unit.

If you have any other issues with it, you can PM me about it.
