adaptec/roxio Direct CD software alternative ?

I am new to cdrw, seems that nero does not have this option, or am I overlook

any other software other than direct cd which I can write a cdrw like using a floppy drive ?

Yes it does. When you purchase Nero in retail package it comes with InCD on the CD. Or if you purchased a LEGAL COPY of Nero over the internet, you can download InCD from http://www.ahead.de . It will NOT install on a demo version of Nero, but it will install on full version.

In my opinion, I would not use "use it like a floppy" or packet writing in technically correct term. It is extremely unreliable and you're putting your data at stake. Basically all the datas are written from inside to out, but sparing a few mm in the center for indexing. It writes the data, then writes the index. The data locations are written in index area and if this gets corrupt, you'll lose all the data. All it takes is a single crash during write process or inserting the disc when it has smear in index area of the disc.

I agree, packet type writing stinks, and is prone to problems. Plus you can not use the full size of the disk because of the extra approximately 13meg it takes each time a packet is written.

IMHO, just use your normal writing software, or get Nero. If you want to add data to the disk later, select the option to not finialize the disk.
