i read somewhere that you can speed up the write by enabling write cache in bios. however, i don't think you can change the settings after creating the array. also, im curious what raid software you use to monitor the array? i am currently using raid storage manager.

Same software, Raid Storage Manager... I enabled write-back cache for better performance... do believe you can enable it even after creating the array.

i also enabled write cache. however, by enabling write cache, you increase the chance of data loss if you're hit by a power failure. i do not the chances of data loss, however.

Yeah, I have the server on a UPS, they are cheap enough these days. The UPS tells the server when it is running low on battery power and initiates a shutdown if necessary 😀
