Adaptec EZ CD Creator - Not detecting my Plextor - help!

I reinstalled Adaptec EZ CD Creator and it can't detect my Plextor 12CDR. I have v4.01 I believe. .anyone know what's up or how to fix this?? Thanks..

BTW, the My Computer icon displays the drive. In the options in EZ CD Creator, I can see that it says Plextor.. problem is that the message I get is there is no valid CDR hooked up..
 
I had the same problem with my 16x10x40. Mine was "retail", so i just used the Easy CD Creator from the bundle.
I'm guessing you's is an OEM drive?
 
I believe I have a Retail boxed plextor drive.. it detected it before, but now it doesn't. When I tried installing SEVERAL patches, it says it has nowhere to apply the patch too.

Anyone know how to solve this problem?? I konw it's not a hardware thing though.. I can read the CD drive fine and it shows up as a drive letter in My Computer. I can also read files and such off it as well.. and even perform the speed tests in adaptec's software.. but adaptec just doesn't detect it.

Any help?
 
if your having problems patching the software...uninstall it and reinstall it to the default location...then apply patches...you need those in order for the adaptec to recognize it
 
I installed it to the default location. Any other suggestions?? This is the first time I've had this problem.. I iknstalled it before and it was fine.. could it psosibly be where the CDR is located on the IDE cable or anything? Does it have to be somewhere else? This is the only thing I chnaged really..
 
Well oem drive doen't mean don't come with retail software. i have 2 plextor buy oem drive all of them come with retail software. by the way don't not upgrade latest firmware(1.02) it give you more trouble than anything else for example if you a generic media on plextor using latest firmware 1.02 than you will have problem to reading but other drive will reading fine so it force me go back use firm ware 1.01 and it work like a champ😉
 
Just what Oyeve said,

EZ Just need the CDRW in its Database. Download the lastest patches at I think the most recent version is v.4.05.

Uninstall and Reinstall the application. Just make sure to reboot your PC when requested. When uninstall applciations, I recommend you to reboot twice to make sure you "clean the registry".
 
There's actually two patches.

If you just install the latest one without the early one, it won't upgrade.
