Adaptec Direct CD--Warning Reservation Conflict

I am getting this message when i try and do a back up to the ZIP Drive.
Warning Reservation Conflict This Drive cannpt be used because it is
already being used by "Adaptec Direct CD" Kernel". Does anyone have any
info on this problem. Any suggestions would be helpful.

if you're using win98/ME then try disabling direct cd from running in the background at startup in msconfig!
