Adaptec 2940U2W... HDD can't be seen under DOS What Gives?

Hello,

I am trying to reinstall my O/S (W98) WEll I can't see my HDD under dos. My SCSI CD-ROMs are detected just fine.

I have the following setup:

Adaptec 2940U2W (ID7)
Fujitsu 10K LVD Drive (ID0) hooked th LVD connector on u2w controller
Plextor 32x (ID3) hooked to 50 pin
Plextor 8x20x (ID4) hooked to 50 pin

Now it says that Iam supposed to terminate the Fujitsu Drive. Well there is a jumper on there that Iam using toi terminate it think. Wehn I terminate it with the LVD Connector that came with the card it will only allow me to get 40mb/sec not the 80mb/sec that I get w.out the connecting Terminator.

I hope someone can help me as I am farely new to SCSI stuff

you must put the terminator at the end of the cable that the hdd is on!

I put it after the HDD right>

Yes, the terminator should be the last thing on the SCSI channel.

correct, it has to be at the end of the lvd cable!

Hello,

I tried what yu guys did and well it didn't work at all. My transfer rate is now back down to 40.0, at least taht's what it shows when the SCSi adapter detects the HDD. It's an LVD drive and it conntected to the LVD part of the controller.

When I use a boot disk to boot dos. It detects the drive but I can't access it. I load the DOS Drivers for the adapter but still no go.

I hope there is something I can do.
