Is it possible to "adapt" a laptop LCD somehow to work on a Desktop? I am trying to put a MiniPC into a truck and want to use a 12-13" LCD from a dell laptop for the video... Thanks

There are some kits available for selected LCD's but in general this is an overwhelming task for the average bear.

Is it possible? Yes, technically.

Is it easy? No.

You have to get specific controller cards for the screen, which will generally cost you upwards of $200. Check out EarthLCD and see some of the prices ;)

The LCD is just the display device. The big sticking point is the interface between the video card and the LCD. You must supply all the voltages for the LCD as well as the back light as well as all the driving signals for the video. Instead of a nice neat little cable between the video card and the monitor you are looking at multiple ribbon cables to supply all the stuff you are going to need.
